The City Council has closed public comments, but we expect responses to our raised concerns and the final vote to occur on this date. While we'd like to think they're listening to and representing our community, the tone of the last meeting felt like trying to stop a freight train by standing on the tracks waving a pompom for as much as the council engaged with the public. Forbidding applause and threatening to close the hearing wasn't quite the most "we're here to listen" sort of environment, and we objected to the restriction under the first amendment.
Be sure to read up on the Brown Act for public meetings, and your rights therein. We aim to be professional, but also to operate with respect to our legal rights.
